Education Support and Teacher Retention Haiti North, Haiti

DONATE

At our Haiti North site, which includes two subsites, soaring prices and critical shortages of everyday goods have put essential school supplies out of reach for local families. Without the required textbooks and learning materials, vulnerable children face severe barriers to education, leading to delayed enrollment, frequent absenteeism, and higher dropout rates.

The Education Support and Teacher Retention program is a targeted intervention that delivers emergency educational support to 1,487 sponsored and six non-sponsored students within the Haiti North sites. Funds will go to the purchase of essential schoolbooks and other necessary educational materials for students. Additionally, a portion of the funds will support the salaries of six teachers across two site schools, helping ensure a stable learning environment for students

Chalice program directors will measure the success of the program through:

  • Confirmation from parents and schools that students received the required learning materials;
  • Strict attendance tracking during the first term of the academic year;
  • Feedback from teachers about student preparedness and participation.

These steps will ensure children can start the school year with the supplies they need, attend class regularly, and fully engage in their education, despite ongoing crisis conditions.

Given ongoing economic and security challenges in Haiti, this support is expected to remain necessary for the near future.
