Where we work

Chalice has been serving children and elders in Guatemala since 2001 in three communities in southwestern Guatemala. Our Guatemalan families are exceptional testaments to the power of prayer and are enthusiastic about forming prayer groups for adults and children.

Children in Guatemala face many significant dangers: rates of dropping out, gang activity, human trafficking and crime are all high in these communities. Chalice and our partners provide after-school support programming to keep children in school.

The site works in one community with particularly high rate of childhood malnutrition. With the support of Chalice donors the site established the Andrés Girón Community Dining Room which runs a regular meal program for food-insecure sponsored children.

Through sponsorship, the site staff support parents to find work or begin their own income-generating projects.
