Where we work

Chalice has been serving children and elders in Paraguay since 2012 in a mix of urban and rural communities. Compared to neighbouring countries, there are few international NGOs working in Paraguay. In the communities where Chalice works, there are no other similar supports. Our sponsorship program is distinctive in this country.

Children in Paraguay are at a high risk of dropping out of school to find work, exacerbated by the high cost of education after junior high, and few opportunities for higher studies. Therefore, Chalice focuses on after-school support programming to keep children in school.

Food insecurity and malnutrition are central issues. Most parents are not able to secure steady employment. Our sites run community nutrition programs to ensure that children from vulnerable homes eat hearty and balanced meals. Our sites also help create opportunities for parents to find work or begin their own income-generating projects.
