1992
- In 1992, then a parish priest stationed in Springhill, NS, Fr. Pat considered sponsoring a child.
- He said a prayer that he would find a Catholic organization where he could help through sponsorship.
1993
- Shortly thereafter, a friend from the US visited and invited Fr. Pat to become involved with the American Catholic sponsorship organization Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA).
- After doing his research, Fr. Pat accepted their invitation to join the board of directors of CFCA Canada.
In 1996, our organization in Springhill becomes an autonomous child sponsorship charity, taking the new name of Christian Child Care International.
2007
- In 2007, Fr. Pat gave us the name Chalice Canada.
- We moved to our permanent national headquarters in Bedford, NS, in the winter of 2016.
- The Chalice Gift Catalogue makes its debut.
2016
- We moved to our permanent national headquarters in Bedford, NS, in the winter of 2016.
- 3 Mission Trips this year: Kenya, Peru and Ukraine.
- Family Funding has expanded to many sponsor sites: Africa (78%); Asia (100%); Haiti (50%); Latin America (98%).
- The local elementary school in Mikinduri, Kenya has seen a 48% increase in enrollment since the implementation of Chalice’s school feeding program.
2021
- In May, 2021, Chalice was constituted as a Private Association of the Faithful by Archbishop Brian Dunn of the Diocese of Halifax-Yarmouth. Read the official decree.
