At Kasyongo School, children are eager to learn, but their current classrooms are deteriorating and no longer offer a safe environment for effective education.
Unpredictable weather—including seasonal rains, high winds, and extreme heat—frequently interrupts lessons. Teachers also lack a dedicated space to prepare lessons and collaborate. By upgrading these facilities with modern infrastructure, it will provide students and teachers with a safe, stable, and welcoming environment. It will encourage families to prioritize education while creating opportunities for long-term social and economic development in the area.
This capital project has three objectives:
- To provide a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students to learn with three classroom blocks, each with three classrooms, and landscaping to improve outdoor student areas.
- To improve the health and dignity of students by constructing large, well-ventilated, and clean washrooms for boys, girls, and staff (10-door washroom facility, including one accessible unit for students with disabilities, and two changing rooms).
- To provide a clean, secure, and supportive space for staff and teachers to manage their lessons and school administrative duties, including a staffroom, headmaster’s office, deputy headteacher’s office/storage room, records room, and waiting/reception area.
To maximize financial transparency and operational efficiency, the Chalice site director will oversee project logistics and finances in coordination with an accountant, project coordinator, and site social workers. Constructing the new buildings with climate-resilient, high-durability materials will minimize long-term maintenance costs. Active community engagement and responsible oversight by local stakeholders and school management will secure the facilities’ ongoing sustainability.
Every donor gift is managed with the utmost care and transparency. Strict safety and security protocols will be enforced. To mitigate market or labour fluctuations, multiple suppliers will be sourced, and expenditures monitored closely.
