Sofia

Sofia, also affectionately known as Piang, is a six-year-old kindergarten student from Cut-cot, a small village outside Pulilan, Philippines. Piang is enjoying school and especially likes art and physical education classes. She is very active and loves dancing and singing in her free time. She is also a big fan of fried fish and anything pink. Piang is the happiest when she is playing ball games with her closest friends, Shami and Margareth. Piang’s big dream is to become a chef when she finishes school. At home, she likes to help by sweeping the floor.

Piyang lives with her grandparents, uncle, and aunt. Her grandfather works as a tricycle driver and serves as the main provider for the family. Her parents and younger siblings live in a different house, and due to her father’s limited income, her grandparents take care of her and help support her educational needs. As her grandparents get older, it is becoming harder for them to continue to meet the family’s needs. Being part of the child sponsorship program would be a wonderful opportunity for Piyang and would help ease her grandparent’s financial burden while ensuring she can continue her studies and eventually achieve her goal of becoming a chef.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
