Oleh

Oleh is a determined 17-year-old young man living in Kolomyia Town in Western Ukraine. He is currently in his second year at the Service Industry Professional Lyceum studying to become a cook and waiter, a path he chose after discovering a natural talent for cooking alongside his father. Oleh values his education deeply, enjoys his technology classes, and works hard in school with the hope of building a bright, successful future.

He lives with his father, whom he loves very much, in a wooden home with an asbestos roof. Oleh’s mother passed away when he was a little boy, and his father now raises him alone while working as a junior lieutenant in the security department at a correctional facility. Because his father earns a minimum salary and the ongoing war has caused the cost of living to skyrocket, the family faces severe financial difficulties trying to cover basic necessities.
