Miriam

Miriam is a 32-year-old woman living in Kianzoe, Kenya, where she shares a room with her young daughter, Blessing, in a brick home with a metal sheet roof. She is a helpful member of her household who lives with her father and brother and finds quiet joy in simple daily tasks like cleaning.

Since infancy, Miriam has lived with neuro-developmental challenges, including intellectual and autism spectrum disorders, which require continuous daily medication. She also recently suffered a painful burn on her hand that hinders her from doing manual labor, making her heavily reliant on her family for physical and financial support to care for herself and her daughter.

Sponsorship connects adults with disabilities to inclusive educational, occupational, and social activities and enables them to live dignified and healthy lives, regardless of their level of independence.
