Michael

Michael is a sweet five-year-old boy from Nguka Village, Kenya. He is currently in preschool. His grandmother walks Michael to school every day because it is two kilometres each way and she worries he will get hurt by the many bushes along the way. Michael really likes his teacher, Madam Sarah, and enjoys art class. He enjoys school so much that he has decided he wants to become a teacher when he finishes his studies. Michael enjoys playing running games with his three best friends when he’s not in school. While at home, Michael loves taking care of his grandmother’s three goats and a sheep. He attends church every Sunday, where he sings in the choir.

Michael lives with his grandmother in a small dirt home. His grandmother is the sole provider and she is finding it difficult to cover all the expense for Michael, including his school fees. Being part of the Chalice sponsorship program would not only help ease Michael’s grandmother’s financial worries, but it would also provide him with a wonderful opportunity to continue his studies and gain the foundational education needed to eventually attend post-secondary school and achieve his goal of becoming a teacher.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
