Margaret is a lovely 86-year-old widow living in a sheet-metal structure in Nanyuki, Kenya. After Margaret’s husband passed, she was left alone, unable to continue farming because of her health issues. She has a son who has been helping her with cooking her meals and providing food as much as he can, but he has his own family to support.
Margaret always enjoyed farming and would love to continue herself, but unfortunately, it is not possible. She does care for her animals but that is a struggle that always leaves her in severe pain. Sponsoring Margaret would be a great relief to her and would help take some of the financial responsibility off her son, who is also struggling at times.
Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
