Marco

Marco is 10 years old and lives in our Tondo site in the Philippines. Marco has big dreams of becoming a police officer even though he is only in Grade 4. He wants to serve his community and country. His favourite classes in school are literature and EPP,  because he enjoys learning different subjects, like computers, farming, home economics, and industrial arts where he learns basic carpentry, electrical, and metalwork skills.

Marco likes to play basketball with his friends. He is also a fan of fruit, like grapes and apples, but he also loves adobo. His favourite colour is violet!

Marco’s father is a driver, working very hard every day to support his family. His mother also works when she can find it, but their income is not enough to support the needs of their four children, who are all in school. They find expenses such as school supplies, uniforms and transportation are a huge struggle on limited income. Sometimes, the family will have to borrow money just to ensure their children can attend school. With sponsorship, Marco can focus on learning and building his future as a police officer.

Marco and his parents, brother, two sisters, and his grandmother all live in a small cement home with a cement roof.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
