Londungu

Londungu is a 69-year-old man from a small village near Juakali, Kenya. He was unable to go to school when he was younger so he cannot read or write but he enjoyed spending his days farming. Now, he spends his days with his family, which includes his wife and two sons. He likes talking with his neighbours and helping in the village when he can. He really enjoys meeting new people, listening to their stories, and learning from them. He also likes taking part in the village activities.

Londungu says that life has been full of challenges but also much joy. He is grateful for his family, his home, and the simple things in life. For Londungu, family and community are very important. He is devoted to being a good Christian and greatly enjoys listening to the word of God.

Londungu and his family currently live in a one-room, sheet-metal house. Since he is unable to work because of his health and age, being part of the sponsorship program would help ease the financial strain on his family and give him an opportunity to enjoy life with fewer worries.

Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
