Juan

Juan is a cheerful six-year-old boy living in Paraje Chuicaxtún, Guatemala. A dedicated student who loves participating in school, his favorite subject is Art. Juan can be a little reserved at first, but once he feels safe, he loves to open up and chat. His favorite color is green—like the mountains surrounding his community—and he loves playing soccer. He has a brave, compassionate heart and dreams of becoming a firefighter so he can help people in need.

He lives with his father, Daniel, and his sister in a cement home with a metal sheet roof. Juan is wonderfully helpful; when he gets home from school, he happily assists his grandmother by carrying firewood and tending to her three sheep before enjoying a warm bowl of vegetable broth.
