John lives in Ravine Blanche, a small community outside Jérémie, Haiti. He is eight years old and is currently in Grade 3. He enjoys language arts studies, while he likes school in general. When he is not in class, John likes playing soccer with his friends. In his free time, he also really enjoys planting potatoes and other vegetables, which makes sense because he has big plans to become an agronomist after graduating secondary school.
John lives with his mother, who works as a cosmetologist. As a single parent, it can often be difficult for her to cover their daily expenses, especially the growing school fees. For John, being part of the Chalice sponsorship program would not only help ease his mother’s financial burdens, but it would also provide him an opportunity to continue his studies and gain the foundational education he needs to go onto post-secondary school and achieve his goal of becoming an agronomist.
Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
