Jhanna

Jhanna is a sweet seven-year-old girl from the Baseco Port Area in the Philippines. Currently in Grade 1, Jhanna loves English class and is already studying hard because she is inspired to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor, so she can help all the sick people in her community. Her favourite thing to do when she is not in school is play tag with her best friends, Natalie and Kate. Jhanna also loves anything pink and broccoli because she thinks it’s delicious and is very healthy.

Jhanna lives with her mother, brother, and sister. As a single parent, Jhanna’s mother is the sole provider for her siblings. She does piece work, peeling garlic to support their daily living expenses. She receives little and inconsistent support from Jhanna’s father, which makes it difficult for her to manage the family’s needs. Being part of the sponsorship program would be a great opportunity for the family, as it would help ensure that Jhanna can continue her education with all the resources she needs to be successful, while helping to relieve some of the financial burden her mother is experiencing as a single parent.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
