Imelda

Imelda is a dedicated 20-year-old young woman living in Tanzania. She is currently in college, where she is especially enjoying the language arts and social studies courses. Imelda is a firm believer in the importance of education, which is why she always puts her best efforts into her schoolwork. Imelda believes so much in the the power of education that her goal is to help others learn when she becomes a teacher.

When Imelda is not studying, she likes to stay active playing netball and dancing. She lives with her mother in a small two-room home which lacks a reliable water supply and electrical services. Both Imelda and her mother rely on farming for an income, but with the unfavourable weather conditions and price fluctuations, their income is inconsistent and does not cover their daily expenses, let alone Imelda’s school fees. Despite these challenges, Imelda’s mother has always encouraged her to continue to pursue her dreams.

Being part of the sponsorship program would be an amazing opportunity for Imelda, as it would ensure she can finish college and graduate as a teacher, a career that would provide a stable income and help her break the cycle of poverty for her family.
