Gifty

With such a beautiful name, this little eight-year-old girl is certainly a “gift.” Named Gifty, she is currently in Grade 2. She loves language arts and when she is not in school, she likes to play ampe, a traditional Ghanian childhood game, and soccer. Even at 11 years old, Gifty already knows she wants to become a nurse because she wants to help others and make a better life for herself.

Gifty lives with her parents, two brothers, and sister in a small, grass structure with a sheet-metal roof. As very small-scale farmers, Gifty’s parents do their best to care for their four children but it is challenging given their lack of stable income from farming. Being part of the sponsorship program would relieve a great deal of the financial pressure on Gifty’s parents to pay for her school fees. Having a sponsor would also help to ensure Gifty is able to continue her studies and graduate with a solid foundational education for post-secondary education.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
