Dhansika

Dhansika is 13 years old and lives in Ayyamapettai. India. She is a very caring and ambitious young girl in Grade 8, who makes the long, three-kilometre walk to school every day. Dhansika loves language arts class and is especially interested in Tamil, a subject in which she get very good grades.

Dhansika has two best friends, Hasini and Thulasimani, who love to play kabaddi together, a popular game in South Asia that is a combination of tag, wrestling, and rugby. When she is not in school Dhansika also likes to draw and play with her cat. When she finishes school, she hopes to become an Indian Administrative Services Officer.

Dhansika lives with her parents and two sisters. Unfortunately, her father is disabled and unable to work. Her mother is the sole provider and works as a housemaid, but the wages are minimal, making it difficult to support the family. Sponsorship would be a big relief for this family and would ensure Dhansika receives the foundational education she needs to achieve her goals.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
