Devasastiga is a bright and determined 7-year-old girl living in Tamil Nadu, India. She is currently in grade 3, where her favorite subject is Tamil literature. Devasastiga is a playful and creative child who loves cycling, drawing and coloring pictures, and playing carom and hide-and-seek with her friends in the evening. With big ambitions for her future, she dreams of becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
She lives with her parents and elder sister in a brick home with a cement roof. Her father works as a salesman in a rice flour mill, and her mother makes flower garlands as a daily wage laborer. Despite both parents working tirelessly, their combined earnings are often insufficient to cover basic household needs and educational expenses for two growing daughters.
