Charity is a 27-year-old young woman living in Kakunike, Kenya, where she shares a brick home with a metal sheet roof with her parents and four siblings. She is a positive individual who finds great joy in singing and spending time with her family. Because she moves by crawling and requires assistance with her daily activities, her parents dedicate much of their time to her care, which creates a significant financial strain on the household.
Born underweight and requiring two months of incubation, Charity developed severe joint complications after her first year that left her unable to stand or walk on her own. Due to these physical challenges and financial limitations, she was never able to attend school as a child. Despite these hurdles, Charity is highly motivated and holds a resilient dream of joining a tertiary school to take a beauty therapy course and learn hairdressing skills so she can become a salonist.
Sponsorship connects adults with disabilities to inclusive educational, occupational, and social activities and enables them to live dignified and healthy lives, regardless of their level of independence.
