Serah

Serah is a 26-year-old young woman living in Kyasioni, Kenya, where she resides in a brick home with a metal sheet roof alongside her parents and five siblings. As the third of six children, she is a family-oriented individual who finds her greatest joy in spending quality time with her brothers and sisters.

Though born healthy, Serah developed severe health complications after being diagnosed with tuberculosis at just four months old. Because her parents are peasant farmers facing financial instability, they were unable to afford the expensive specialized schooling she required, meaning she was never able to attend school. Today, her family struggles intensely to keep up with her high clinic transportation costs, daily nutrition, and immediate medical treatment when she falls ill.

Sponsorship connects adults with disabilities to inclusive educational, occupational, and social activities and enables them to live dignified and healthy lives, regardless of their level of independence.
