Joyce is a 31-year-old single mother of three living in Kamuwongo, Kenya, where she and her children are currently being sheltered by her aunt. Despite facing immense hardships, Joyce is a devoted mother who enjoys taking walks and holds a deep hope of seeing her children get to attend school every day and enjoy regular, nutritious meals.
Following the passing of her father, Joyce and her family were tragically driven away from their land by relatives, leaving them homeless. Joyce lives with mental health challenges, as does her mother, and the family must frequently move around to find shelter and small patches of land to farm from well-wishers. Because they rely heavily on borrowing and the hospitality of relatives, they face a constant, severe struggle to secure basic necessities like food, clothing, and school supplies.
