Carmen

Carmen is a joyful and deeply faithful 87-year-old mother living in a brick home with a calamine roof in Yapacaní, Bolivia. She resides alongside her loving daughter, Raquel, who helps care for her. Though Carmen has navigated significant health challenges over her 17-year journey with diabetes—including losing her sight and having both legs amputated—as well as managing high blood pressure, her spirit remains vibrant and bright.

From her wheelchair, Carmen brings immense warmth and light to her household. She finds deep peace and comfort in her faith, spending her days praying the Holy Rosary and offering prayers for her family and community. Her presence is a source of joy to those around her, and her family is filled with gratitude for the support that helps care for her needs.

Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
