Caren

Caren is a very cheerful 57-year-old widower who has faced many challenges in life. She lives with her 24-year-old son, George, who is currently in Grade 11, but because of the lack of resources, he is often not able to attend school, which would give him an opportunity to find better employment when he graduates.

Mother and son live in a one-room dirt home in a small village outside Asembro, Kenya where they have a little farm they rely on for the meager sustenance they can gather from the crops. Caren has health issues that make it hard for her to farm, but George helps he plough the small garden, something Caren loves to do.

Sponsoring Caren would significantly relieve the immense financial pressure she is under and help ensure she is able to receive the proper nutrition she needs to maintain her health. It would also allow her to use the little income she has toward George’s schooling so he can finish school and eventually help take care of his mother.

Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
