Beatrice

This pleasant woman is Beatrice. She is a 69-year-old grandmother who lives in Njbgum, a small village in Kenya. Beatrice’s husband passed away in 2023 and since he was the family’s sole provider, Beatrice has found it difficult as a small-scale peanut farmer to care for her family, who all have casual jobs.

Beatrice loves singing and gardening because they keep her engaged and happy. She is pretty active and enjoys walking. She is currently caring for her grandchildren, who are in school, so sponsoring Beatrice would be a huge relief for her as she is not able to work as much as she used to and what she does make, is often not enough to cover the basic essentials, including food.

Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
