Bastián

Bastián is a smart and very friendly six-year-old boy from San Sebastián, Peru, a small village about 1,500 km from the large city of Chicalayo. He is in Grade 1, where he is excited to meet new friends who share his love of soccer. When he’s not outside scoring goals, you will find Bastián playing with his blocks or making creative drawings and paintings. He loves art so much, he dreams of becoming an artist when he’s finished school.

This little boy always has a cheerful smile, especially when he’s eating pesto or mangoes, his favourite foods. But his smile is never bigger than when he gets to play with his sister, who he adores.

Bastián lives with his parents and sister in a small brick home with a calamine roof. His father is a welding assistant while his mother stays home to tend to the children and help them with their homework, something both parents know is vitally important for their success.

While Bastián’s father works as much as he can, it is often not enough to cover the family’s basic expenses, especially when the work is not consistent. Sponsoring this creative little boy would help the family ensure he has everything he needs to succeed in school.
