Althea

Althea is a thoughtful and energetic 9-year-old girl living in Metro Manila, Philippines. She is currently in grade 3, where language arts is her favorite subject. Althea is a helpful child who enjoys dancing, playing hide-and-seek and volleyball, and helping out with household chores. Driven by a desire to educate others and support her family, she works hard in school and dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up.

She lives in a plywood home with a metal sheet roof alongside her parents, brother, and two sisters. Her father works as a painter, while her mother stays home to care for the five children, including a younger sibling with a serious medical condition. Providing for a large family and managing high medical care costs on a single laborer’s income makes covering daily household expenses and school necessities a constant financial struggle.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
