At 74 years old, Guillermo has spent a lifetime working hard to provide for his family. Despite living with paraplegia and other physical challenges, he remained determined to contribute however he could, earning a modest income by selling food products in his community. His perseverance and dedication helped support those he loves, even during difficult times.
Today, however, Guillermo faces a struggle that has taken away his independence and left him confined to bed. He has been diagnosed with severe left-sided coxarthrosis, a degenerative hip condition that causes the joint to wear away over time. The disease has progressed to the point where every movement brings intense pain, making it impossible for him to walk, work, or carry out even the simplest daily activities.
For a man who spent years doing everything possible to support his family, the loss of mobility has been devastating. Guillermo now depends on others for basic care, while his family watches helplessly as he endures constant discomfort. His wife, despite her own advanced age and declining health, has been forced to seek whatever work she can find to provide food and meet the family’s most urgent needs.
The family lives in modest conditions and has no stable source of income. What little security they once had disappeared when Guillermo’s illness prevented him from working. His children and loved ones do what they can, but the burden of caring for him while struggling to meet daily expenses has become overwhelming.
Doctors have determined that Guillermo urgently needs a total hip replacement. This surgery offers the possibility of relieving his pain, restoring mobility, and allowing him to regain some independence and dignity. Without it, he is likely to remain bedridden, dependent on others, and trapped in a cycle of suffering.
Guillermo’s story is not only about illness—it is about resilience, family love, and the hope of reclaiming a life that pain has taken away. Support at this critical moment would offer more than medical treatment; it would give him the chance to move, live, and participate in family life once again.
