Oksana is a devoted mother whose life has always revolved around caring for her son and creating a peaceful home despite limited means. Gentle, hardworking, and deeply compassionate, she has spent years doing temporary jobs and tending a small garden to provide for her family. Even during difficult times, she remained hopeful, actively participating in community programs and striving to build a more stable future for her child.

For several years, Oksana lived with ongoing medical concerns related to her thyroid. She regularly attended medical appointments and endured repeated examinations, hoping the condition could be managed. But this spring, doctors discovered alarming changes in the nodules in her thyroid gland. What followed was a series of urgent tests and specialist consultations that led to devastating news—she had a malignant tumor in her thyroid.

The diagnosis changed everything. Oksana was referred for immediate surgery in Kyiv, where she underwent a major and complex operation. Doctors removed her thyroid gland and affected lymph nodes in an effort to stop the spread of the cancer. The procedure was physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming, especially after doctors found evidence suggesting the disease may have already spread to nearby lymph nodes.

For eight days, Oksana remained hospitalized, facing fear and uncertainty while worrying constantly about her son and their future. Though she has now returned home and is recovering, her journey is far from over. She still requires ongoing monitoring and further medical evaluations to determine whether additional cancer treatment will be necessary.

The emotional burden has been accompanied by severe financial strain. With no stable income and unable to work during recovery, Oksana had no choice but to take out a loan to pay for the surgery and related medical expenses. Now, while trying to heal physically, she also faces the anxiety of debt and the fear of not being able to provide for her child.

Oksana’s story is one of courage, sacrifice, and determination—a mother fighting not only for her own life, but for the future of the son who depends entirely on her. With compassionate support, she can continue her recovery with dignity and hope.

Thank you for your compassion and for taking the time to think about those in need.
