Nabisa’s family, from our Bangalore, India site, faced immense financial challenges. Raised by a single mother alongside her two brothers, the family continually struggled to make ends meet.

Nabisa’s mother worked tirelessly as a cook at a women’s hostel, but her income was never enough to cover essential shelter, nutritious meals, healthcare, and education for three young children. Despite this, Nabisa continued to dream about becoming a bank manager one day — so she never gave up.

In Grade 3, that dream began to feel possible when her family received much-needed Chalice support. This meant that throughout her 12-year educational journey, Nabisa never had to worry about school supplies, nutrition, or the guidance needed to succeed.

Now, thanks to her sponsor, Nabisa is ready to step into her next chapter: launching her career in banking! “All this is possible only because of your generous heart and loving care,” Nabisa says.

Ronald Finally Sees the Finish Line: Giving Back Through Teaching

Ronald can finally say his perseverance has officially paid off! After multiple starts and stops during high school caused by a lack of money for his studies and severe illness — including the heartbreaking loss of his sister — Ronald never stopped fighting for his dreams. Now, at 32, he has just graduated from university with a Bachelor of Elementary Education, earning the incredible honour of Cum Laude!

It may have taken Ronald a little longer than most of his classmates to get his degree, but for him, teaching elementary children was always the goal.

Living in Northern Samar, the Philippines with his other sister and his father, who tried to raise the siblings working as a fisherman, the income was not enough to sustain the family — or Ronald’s dreams.

But in Grade 12, a generous and caring sponsor saw Ronald’s potential and unstoppable determination to become a teacher and helped with his education expenses. From that point on, Ronald new his dreams were just around the corner.

With honour-student grades and a deep and personal understanding of how life can affect children’s ability to learn and dampen their dreams, Ronald will make an excellent teacher. He will also be able to pay all the support he’s gotten forward to other children in need, something he’s extremely passionate about.

As Ronad’s story shows, sponsorship can be truly life changing for children of all ages!
