Sneha

Sneha is a very active and engaged 13 year old who lives in Marangattupilly, India. In grade 7, her favourite subject is language arts, where she is studying Hindi and Malayalam. Sneha always takes part in school programs and during Onam, a 10-day festival that marks the Malayalam New Year, Sneha entered a competition as the Malayali Manka (Kerala girl).

Sneha also performed a Thiruvathira dance (a graceful cultural dance) and skit during the annual youth arts festival, for which she was awarded second prize.  When Sneha is not in school or dancing, she loves playing soccer with her best friends, Ashna, Ananya, and Alakanandha.

Sneha walks two kilometres a day to get to school, where she works hard  to get good grades because she wants to become a doctor after finishing grade school. When she’s not studying, Sneha likes to take care of her fish and two kittens.

Sneha lives with her father, mother, two older brothers, and grandmother. Both of her older brothers are in school — the oldest, Surya, in college and the middle brother, Suraj, in Grade 8.

Sneha’s father works as a rickshaw driver while her mother is a stay-at-home parent. Sponsoring Sneha would help ease the family’s financial stress and ensure she can continue in school, where she will get the foundational education that will allow her to enter university with confidence.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
