Sam

Sam is a 16 year-old boy who lives with his parents and sister in Laoang Northern Samar, the Philippines. Set to graduate from Grade 10, Sam is looking forward to continuing his studies in senior high school. He is very interested in social studies and works hard to achieve good grades so he can become a police officer after finishing school. When he is not hitting the books, Sam likes to play basketball with his friends. Seeing his sister graduate from college with a bachelor degree in social work motivates Sam to work hard at his studies so he can also achieve his goals.

The family lives in a plywood home with a sheet-metal roof. Sam’s father works on a coconut farm, where Sam also works to help the family when he’s not in school. Balancing daily survival needs with educational materials for multiple growing children presents a continuous financial hurdle for the household.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
