Reynaldo

Reynaldo is a 15-year-old boy, currently in Grade 9. This pleasant, hard-working young teen lives with his parent and four brothers and two sisters, in Laoang, the Philippines. Reynaldo is serious about his studies, and looks forward to learning. He is especially interested in language and art classes. He is also very involved in school activities and has played in several basketball and arm wrestling tournaments. Reynaldo is very motivated to become a police officer, so he can give back to his community and help his parents, who work tirelessly, yet struggle daily to support their large family. Reynaldo says that witnessing his parents hard work and dedication motivates him and has given him a deep appreciation for family.

Reynaldo and his family live in a plywood home with a sheet-metal roof. His father works long days and nights as a tricycle driver, while his mother stays home to care for the eight children, often doing laundry for extra income. Balancing daily survival needs with educational materials for multiple growing children presents a continuous financial hurdle for the household.
