Ramonito

Ramonito is 12 years old and lives in Navotas City, Philippines. Although he is still in Grade 5, Ramonito already knows he wants to become a police officer so he can keep people safe. In his free time, Ramonito likes to draw. When he was just 10 years old, his father passed away in a car accident, making his mother the sole provider for the family. Even though Ramonito is the youngest of the three siblings, as the only son in the family, he became the head of the family after his father’s passing, which put a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Ramonito lives with his mother and two older sisters in a small plywood home with a sheet-metal roof and no ventilation. His mother works as a canteen vendor, a job that offers minimal wages that are not enough to sustain the family’s basic needs. She often works day and night to ensure she can support her children as much as possible. When Ramonito is not in school, he will help his mother in the canteen so she can get a little rest and will support her whenever she needs his help for other things.

Ramonito’s wish is that he can finish his studies so he can make his family’s life better. Sponsoring Ramonito would be a tremendous help to this struggling family. It would provide Ramonito with an opportunity to focus on his studies without financial worries, so he can continue his education and eventually become a police officer.
