Rakshika

Rakshika is nine years old and lives in Eravangudi, India. She is currently in Grade 3 and loves her language arts class. In her free time, Rakshika likes playing running games with her best friends, Jenisri and Sarathi. Her favourite hobby is drawing, which she likes to do as often as possible. Rakshika is also a big cat lover. When she grows up, Rakshika has big dreams of becoming a teacher because she wants to help others learn new things. She is constantly studying so she can make sure that dream comes true.

Rakshika lives with her parents and three sisters. Her parents are both daily wager labourers, and although they work hard every day, their minimal wages are not enough to cover the family’s daily expenses, including the children’s school fees.

Rakshika has been waiting for a sponsor for over a year, so being part of the Chalice sponsorship program would be an immense financial relief for this struggling family and would ensure Rakshika is able to continue her studies with everything she needs to be successful and eventually achieve her goal of becoming a teacher.

When a sponsor can no longer sponsor a child, Chalice works to match them with a new sponsor as quickly as possible, so the child does not experience a difference in their support. Chalice buffers the transition period from a limited fund, but for the children, there’s no-one as special as a sponsor!
