Nikki

This is Nikki, a very eager and determined 14-year-old girl from Laoang, the Philippines. She is currently in Grade 8, where she is enjoying her language arts class. Nikki tries her best in school, especially when she finds it hard as she is determined to reach her goal of becoming a teacher. She enjoys dancing and playing outside with her best friends, Lione Mae and Mary Rose. The three friends love playing badminton together.

Nkki’s parents are separated and her father is the sole provider, working in Manila as a barber and part-time construction labourer. She seldom sees her mother, who lives in another city with her new family and offers inconsistent financial support. The children’s uncle lives with Nikki and her father, brother, and two sisters to help her father when he is working. They live in a small barrio near the shore in a home made of plywood and sheet metal. It is especially unsafe during typhoon season and high tide. Despite these challenges, Nikki never loses hope and remains a very positive child, relying on her strong faith that a better future is ahead.

Sponsoring Nikki would offer tremendous financial relief to this struggling family. It would provide Nikki with an opportunity to continue her studies with everything she needs to be successful so she can eventually reach her goal of becoming a teacher so she can make a better life for her family.
