Luz

Luz is a happy, loving, and polite 7-year-old girl living in Barrio el Palmo, Guatemala. Currently in the first grade of primary school, she is a hardworking student who loves her language arts class and has already learned to read, add, and subtract. In her free time, Luz enjoys painting, drawing, and going to the beach with her family. At school, she loves eating snacks and playing ball during recess with her friends, Miriam, Julia, and Yoselin. Her favorite food is chow mein, she loves eating fruits like apples and watermelon, and she holds a big dream of becoming a brave firefighter when she grows up!

She lives with her parents, her little sister Leslie, and her two little brothers, Manuel and Marvin, in a cement home with a calamine roof. Raising four young children under one roof brings significant daily expenses, and providing for everyone’s basic daily needs alongside steady educational costs creates a heavy financial strain for her parents.
