Janiel

Janiel lives in a small village that is quite far from the closest town. It’s a simple yet beautiful coastal village surrounded by coconut trees. This very intelligent and ambitious 14 year old is in Grade 8 where her favourite subjects are art and civics. She aspires to be a teacher after finishing school because she thinks teaching is a wonderful profession that will enable her to help support her family and allow her to teach other children so they can learn and go on to achieve their dreams.

Janiel has consistently been an honour student since elementary school, something that has taught her to be responsible, disciplined, and determined to achieve her goals. She always tries her best in everything she does, especially in her academics. She enjoys learning new things to improve academically and personally, and always takes part in school programs so she can share her talents. When she’s not in class or studying, Janiel enjoys singing and dancing because they allow her to express herself and build her confidence.

Janiel lives with her parents and three sisters. Her father is a carpenter and a coconut farmer while her mother has a small variety store. They are financially struggling, often finding it difficult to make ends meet every month. Being part of the sponsorship program would help this family relieve some of their financial stress and ensure Janiel can continue progressing in school with honour-level grades and eventually attend teachers college.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
