Erika

Erika is a smart and kind 8-year-old girl living in Kolomyia Town, Ukraine, where she resides in a wood home with a metal sheet roof. Currently studying as a second grader, Erika loves mathematics and physical education classes. She is an organized child who enjoys keeping things tidy and taking care of her belongings and toys at home. When she grows up, she has a unique and beautiful dream of becoming a professional bandura player.

Erika is being raised by her hardworking single mother, Svitlana, in a household that includes Erika’s grandmother. Her father left the family before Erika was born. Although her mother works diligently to provide for her, her salary is not enough to cover all their necessities, leaving the family struggling financially. To help secure their family’s nutrition, they cultivate a small vegetable garden near the house to grow their own vegetables. Because of these severe economic challenges, the sponsorship program provides a critical lifeline, offering essential nutritional support, educational resources, and stability for the family.

Sponsorship provides Erika with access to nutritious food, quality education, medical care, and the essential resources she needs to stay healthy, stay in school, and work toward her dream of becoming a professional bandura player.
