Alisa

Alisa is a smiling and funny 6-year-old girl living in Comunidad Victorias 3, Guatemala. Though she is still very young, she is looking forward to starting preschool next year, where she is already excited to learn math. In her free time, she loves playing with dolls alongside her best friend and neighbors, and her favorite treats are mangoes and spaghetti with sauce. Looking to the future, Alisa dreams of becoming a teacher so she can help educate her little sister.

She lives with her parents and two sisters in a wood home with a palm leaf roof. Her father works hard as a farm worker to provide for the household. Relying on unpredictable agricultural labor to support a family of five makes covering daily necessities and the upcoming expenses for the children’s education a constant financial hurdle. The sponsorship program provides a critical foundation for Alisa, offering the consistent resources her family needs to ensure she can safely enter school and focus on her studies.
