Sonder is a respectful and hardworking 17-year-old who values his education and dreams of building a brighter future. He is currently in Grade 11 and enjoys learning despite the many hardships his family faces. He lives with his parents in a small two-room house that lacks even basic sanitation. With little employment available in their community, the family’s only income comes from his mother, who earns a modest living tending small gardens whenever work is available.

Several months ago, Sonder began experiencing persistent pain in his groin, along with discomfort and itching that gradually became more difficult to ignore. Concerned about his worsening condition, his mother sought help from the Chalice office because she knew her family could not afford the medical care her son needed.

Following medical consultations and a series of laboratory tests and examinations, doctors diagnosed Sonder with a varicocele, an enlargement of the veins around the testicle. This painful condition can interfere with normal blood flow and may continue to worsen without proper treatment. Doctors have recommended further medical care, including a surgical consultation, to determine the best course of treatment.

Although Sonder has begun taking medication, he continues to experience pain and has not yet recovered. He remains at home while attending additional medical appointments, hoping for relief from a condition that has affected his daily life and made it difficult to focus on school and his future.

For his family, finding the resources for ongoing medical care has been nearly impossible. With only one modest income and the rising cost of living, every doctor’s visit, examination, and treatment places additional strain on an already fragile household.

Your kindness can help ease this burden by providing the medical care Sonder urgently needs. Your support will allow him to continue the examinations and treatment recommended by his doctors, giving him the opportunity to recover, continue his education, and move toward adulthood with renewed hope and good health.

Thank you for your compassion and for taking the time to think about those in need.
