At just 19, Justin has already faced hardships that could easily have interrupted his dreams. Born with a congenital deformity of his right lower leg, he underwent a below-knee amputation as a child and has relied on a prosthetic leg to walk, attend school, and live independently.
Justin also knows profound personal loss. His mother died in 2019, and afterward, his father abandoned the family. Justin and his four siblings have largely had to depend on one another, living together in a small three-room wooden home. With no one in the family holding permanent employment, meeting even everyday needs can be difficult.
Yet Justin has refused to allow these circumstances to define his future. Cheerful, friendly, and hardworking, he loves soccer and is now pursuing a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education. His education represents not only his own hopes, but also the possibility of one day helping his family build a more secure future.
Unfortunately, the prosthetic leg that gives Justin his independence is now badly damaged. Its foot is completely broken, and the socket places painful pressure on his residual limb. Temporary repairs have allowed him to return to college, but walking remains difficult and uncomfortable. Continuing to rely on the damaged prosthesis could cause further harm.
Justin urgently needs a properly fitted new prosthetic leg. With it, he could move around campus safely, attend his classes more comfortably, and once again participate in activities he loves, including soccer. It would restore something many of us rarely have to think about—the freedom to walk toward the future he has worked so hard to create.
For Justin, this support is about more than mobility. It is about protecting his education, independence, and determination to someday help lift his family from poverty.
