Built in the 1930s through the efforts of Catholic missionaries, St. Paul’s Primary School was the first elementary school in Nandom. Over 90 years old now, it faces many challenges, including an obvious lack of furniture. Despite being very eager to learn, without desks or chairs, students were sitting on the bare concrete floor during classes, which was not only uncomfortable and inconvenient, but it made concentrating difficult for the students.
Thanks to Chalice Gift Catalogue donors, however, 60 students at this iconic primary school no longer have to sit on the floor and try to take notes during class. With 20 new desks, each seating three students, these spirited kids are all smiles.
Teachers are also very happy, noticing the big smiling faces of engaged students, once again excited about coming to class. Jawad, a Grade 3 student, is one of those happy children. He says these new desks are much appreciated, and he will be making the most out of them.
