Fifteen-year-old Arseniy is a thoughtful and determined young man who refuses to let his disability define his future. Despite living with hearing loss since birth, he has worked hard in school and recently completed Grade 9. He dreams of becoming a builder and enjoys learning practical construction skills, often helping his father with home repairs. Kind, considerate, and eager to learn, Arseniy is looking forward to beginning vocational school and building a future through hard work.
Since childhood, Arseniy has depended on hearing aids in both ears to communicate, learn, and participate in daily life. Unfortunately, the hearing aids he currently uses have lasted far beyond their expected lifespan. After nine years of constant use, they no longer function properly and are no longer suitable for his changing hearing needs. Doctors diagnosed him with chronic bilateral sensorineural hearing loss—Grade II hearing loss in his right ear and Grade III in his left. This type of permanent hearing loss occurs when the inner ear or hearing nerve is damaged, making it difficult to hear speech clearly, especially in classrooms or busy environments. Without properly functioning hearing aids, Arseniy struggles to communicate with others, making everyday conversations, learning, and social interactions increasingly difficult. Specialists have recommended new hearing aids designed to match his current level of hearing and support his continued development.
Arseniy’s family longs to provide this essential equipment but simply cannot afford it. His mother works as a cashier in a small building supply store, while his father’s ability to work is limited because of serious health problems. Their modest income is barely enough to cover daily living expenses and ongoing medical needs. Although they faithfully attend medical appointments and have sought professional guidance, purchasing new hearing aids remains beyond their reach.
Support through the Critical Needs Fund would give Arseniy the opportunity to hear more clearly, communicate with confidence, and begin vocational school with the tools he needs to succeed. It would not only improve his education but also help him participate more fully in family life, friendships, and the community as he pursues his dream of becoming a skilled builder.
