Leonora was a woman who filled her home with warmth, music, and care. She loved to sing and cook, preparing meals that brought her family together. Despite modest means, she found joy in nurturing those around her—her husband, who is visually impaired, her children, and her young granddaughter who still depended on her guidance and love.
Her life changed suddenly after a thyroid surgery in mid-2025. Though she survived the operation, she lost her voice—an especially painful loss for someone who loved to sing. In the months that followed, her health declined. What began as a persistent cough soon led to a diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis and pleural effusion, a dangerous buildup of fluid in her lungs.
As her condition worsened, Leonora struggled to breathe. Further tests revealed a devastating complication: tuberculosis had spread to her brain, causing TB meningitis, a severe and life-threatening infection. She was rushed between hospitals as her family searched desperately for care that could save her. Eventually, she was admitted to intensive care, where she fell into a coma. Despite every effort, Leonora passed away on December 1.
Her passing has left an irreplaceable void. The family not only lost a mother and wife but also their primary source of strength and stability. Her husband, already living with blindness, now faces an even more uncertain future. The family continues to carry both emotional grief and the burden of medical expenses incurred during their desperate attempt to save her life.
Your compassion can help ease this weight—offering dignity, relief, and hope to a family navigating unimaginable loss.
Thank you for taking the time to consider Leonora’s story, and for your willingness to stand with families in their most difficult moments.
