Junior’s story is an inspiring example of how support and opportunities can transform a life.
Growing up as the only child of a low-income family in Paraguay was hard for Junior. His parents tried very hard to provide a good life for him but without steady work it was nearly impossible to make ends meet. The family was so excited to hear that a sponsor had chosen Junior when he was in 5th grade, he now had a renewed excitement and bounce to his step.
Junior was so thankful to his sponsor who gave him emotional, educational, and financial support. Throughout this time, he stood out to his teachers for his dedication and passion for learning.
The Chalice sponsorship program provided him with access to resources and tools that fostered his growth and development. Thanks to the support of his sponsors, Junior completed his secondary education and was able to enroll in a Psychology program at university.
Today he holds a degree in Clinical Psychology and is interested in specializing in Occupational Psychology. During his studies he worked with the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents and found his passion.
“The Chalice program changed my life,” says Junior. “It gave me the opportunity to believe in myself and pursue my dreams. Now I want to give back what I received and make a difference in the lives of other young people like me.” He has even offered his services as a psychologist if the site requires it.
