Sofia

Sofia is a cheerful and obedient 5-year-old girl living in Manila, the Philippines. She loves dancing, has a wonderful spirit, and holds a big dream of becoming a doctor when she grows up so she can help take care of others.

She lives with her mother and her sister in a small plywood home with a metal sheet roof and a small second floor. Reaching their house requires navigating through a tight alleyway, and the entire neighborhood is frequently affected by high tides. These regular floods cause severe water pooling, putting the family at a high risk for waterborne health conditions like leptospirosis. Under these challenging living conditions, it is incredibly difficult for her family to maintain a healthy environment and cover basic daily expenses.
