Simon

Simon is a hard-working 11-year-old boy living in Zambia. He is currently in grade 2, where mathematics and literature are his favorite subjects. Simon makes a long daily trek of about 7 km to attend school, where he works diligently to learn his alphabet, vowels, and core subjects. In his free time, he loves playing football with his friends John and Isaac. Inspired to serve and protect others, he dreams of becoming a soldier when he grows up.

He lives with his mother, brother, and three sisters in a metal sheet home with a metal sheet roof. His mother works hard to support five children on her own by doing casual piece work. Relying on irregular piece work to provide food and necessities for a large family makes covering daily living expenses and school supplies an ongoing financial challenge.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
