Persila

Persila is an 84-year-old woman from Kamito, Kenya. She enjoys telling stories and reflects with gratitude on the life she has lived, feeling blessed to still be here each day. She lives alone in a cement house with a sheet metal roof. Persila is a widow and has experienced the heartbreaking loss of all twelve of her children. She is now living with blindness following an unsuccessful eye surgery and faces many health challenges. Without family to care for her, daily life can be very difficult. Despite this, Persila remains strong in spirit and would greatly benefit from support to help meet her basic needs and bring comfort to her life.  Sponsorship enables elders to eat well, access healthcare and medication, and connect socially with a community that fosters a sense of belonging.
