Miguel

Miguel is an 11-year-old boy from Laoang, Philippines. He is in grade 6 and especially enjoys science and social studies. Miguel loves reading and also enjoys playing basketball and badminton with his friends. When he grows up, he hopes to become a police officer. Miguel is a determined young boy who works hard because he wants to build a better life for himself and his family. In the future, he hopes to be able to help his family, especially his three sisters.

Miguel lives with his mother, stepfather, and sisters in a home made of cardboard with a palm leaf roof. His stepfather works in construction and does his best to provide for the family, but his income does not always cover their basic needs and educational expenses. During the school week, Miguel stays with his grandparents because their home is closer to his school. He returns home to his parents and sisters on weekends. Despite the challenges his family faces, Miguel remains focused on his education and hopeful about his future.

Sponsorship enables children to attend class every day and have the supplies they need to complete their education, grow up healthy, and achieve their dreams.
